Sarah Akokhia was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but moved to North Devon when she was 2 years old where she grew up until the age of 18. At 18 Sarah moved to London to study drama and London is where she still resides.
Sarah has always had a great passion in acting since she was in her first major play of 'Oliver' with Braunton Productions at The Queens Theatre, Barnstaple at the age of 7. Since then she has made acting her focus and has carried it on into her adult life where she has been working in the industry professionally for the past 7 years.
Sarah Akokhia studied Performing Arts at her local college before undertaking a degree in Drama and Theatre studies at Royal Holloway, University of London from 2002-2005 where she gained a BA Honours degree.
Since graduating Sarah has been working continuously in film, theatre, TV and commercials both in England and abroad. She has appeared in numerous feature films alongside Wil Johnson, Justus Esiri and Kate Henshaw-Nuttal. Her latest film Throw of a Dice in which she co-starred in opened up the Black International Film Festival in Birmingham and also won Best Festival Film. She has recently also taken her acting talent back to her place of birth starring in a Nigerian/British collaboration feature film The Assassins Practice (2012.)
Sarah appeared in the award winning Film Colin that was a huge hit in Cannes and across the world and she has since gone onto work on various other productions with Colin's award winning director Marc Price. She has also worked as a dancer for companies such as MTV and appeared in various stage productions in venues such as The Albany and Etcetera Theatre. Sarah has also appeared in many TV commercials for brands such as BT, Ford, Sky 1, DFS and Film 4.
Sarah hopes to continue her film career further and also expand her theatre career, especially contemporary theatre. Sarah is also currently writing her first feature film script, which has already gathered some interest.
